According to the latest Met Office report on the “UK Climate Impacts Programme”, it’s going to be a scorcher. The next decade, that is. Apparently, global average temperatures have risen by about 0.2 ºC/decade over the past 25 years. Phew! It explains why some of the plants we remember from our parents’ gardens just won’t grow properly in the same soil nowadays. The climate has changed, so our garden planting habits need to change with the times. Deep rooted trees and drought-resistant plants will thrive. Anything that needs a tickle with a watering can twice daily is likely to be rejected (unless of course you’re lucky enough to have your own reservoir on, erm, tap). Come and have a chat with deakinlock and we’ll advise you on the best plants to grow where you live.
