Site Description An Edwardian House with red brick set back from the road behind and mature boundary of trees and adjacent to an open playing field. The site had a slight fall from front to back and comprised of a free draining light soil mainly laid to lawn. The garden was surrounded by sycamores and other trees which gave a degree of shade. Our clients had a hot tub, which need to be incorporated into the scheme; the access from the rear of the house was difficult due to the height difference between ground level and threshold level.
To design a garden which provided relatively low maintenance, an entertaining space which incorporated the clients Hot Tub, colour for late summer, included garden lighting and irrigation. The style was to be modern making use of box, pleached trees and yew hedges but with colour in the planting I a more traditional style. Materials used were Ipe Decking, Marshalls Eclipse Paving and Stone Market Artic Granite, Aurora Garden Lighting and pop up Irrigation via a bore hole. Structural glass was also used to provide a wind break around the deck without blocking views of the garden. |
