Once an enquiry has been received an initial site visit will be arranged to view the garden and discuss your brief and budget. This initial visit allows you to share your aspirations for the garden, whatever they may be, it also offers you the chance to get to know us and how we work, so you can feel confident that your hopes for the garden can be realised.
During the visit we have the opportunity to start to analyse the site and build a picture of your gardens opportunities and challenges by looking at elements such as the garden’s aspect, access, topography and soil structure amongst others. This analysis, together with your brief forms the basis for any future design.
Following the initial consultation meeting we will prepare our initial design fee proposal for your consideration together with a written copy of the brief for the project.
We will undertake a measured topographical survey of the site or using one of our selected partners undertake a GPS topographical survey for larger sites depending on the scale and complexity. The survey forms the basis for the design process together with our own site analysis and photographs.
We are also able to undertake Tree, Plant and Environmental Surveys/Reports.
Outline Proposals/Presentation Scheme Design:
Using the information given to us in the brief and building on the site survey and analysis, we create concept proposals ready for presentation, discussion and then further development. The concept is in plan is presented in plan-view, together with supporting material including mood boards, samples and a 3D digital model as required.
In addition we will prepare submissions for necessary statutory approvals
Once the concept has been developed to an agreed detailed we can develop the ‘Master Plan’ which provides further detailing and will enable us to prepare initial budget costs.
At this stage, we prepare a set of construction details relating to the master plan, together with a specification document for the contractors selected to quote against. We will also help you select a contractor that we then work with, to ensure that the realisation of your garden follows the concept and spirit of the design.
Planting Details and Schedules:
We prepare detailed planting schemes based upon the layout of the ‘Master Plan’. The planting design is influenced by the site topography, aspect, soil and client brief and is designed to enhance the concept.
We will will also prepare detailed plant schedules and source all plants from UK and European Nurseries.
Detail Construction Drawings:
We will prepare detailed construction drawings, levels plans, setting out details, lighting plans and irrigation schemes as required. Once the details have been completed we are able to draw up a detailed specification of works and quotation for the project.
We will construct your garden working with our expert partners taking care of all aspects of the build to ensure that the vision of the garden created during the design process is re-created on the ground. We will liase and manage all 3rd party partners such electricians, plumbers, architects, irrigation specialists etc so that you only need to have one point of contact through out the development of your garden.
Once the garden construction has been finished we sign off the work and hand the garden over to the client. This begins the life of the garden and with the owners care, the garden will continue to develop and improve over the coming years. Deakinlock would be pleased to remain in an advisory role, to help direct the gardens journey into maturity.
