Coastal, South Facing
Existing FeaturesAn Edwardian, red brick house on the coast set back from the road and adjacent to an open playing field. The garden was surrounded by sycamores and other trees which gave a degree of shade. The access from the rear of the house was difficult due to the height difference between ground and threshold level. Our clients own a hot tub which needed to be incorporated into the overall design.
Our clients wanted a relatively low maintenance garden suitable for a large amount of entertaining with space for the hot tub, lots of late summer colour and a modern garden lighting design. The structural planting was modern in feel using box, pleached trees and yew but colour was achieved by more traditional planting schemes. To provide protection from coastal winds, structural glass was used around the decking area without blocking views of the garden.
