South, South-West Facing
Existing FeaturesThis beautiful house and garden was created from new on the site of a working stud.
The grandeur of the house demanded a garden to match and needed to be a multi-functional space for a range of activities enjoyed by our client.
A large main terrace allows easy access to the garden from the many large doors of the house and a separate paved area using sawn stone defines the outside dining area.
A central, wide pathway flanked with lavender creates a strong line that extends out across the formal garden to the edge of the parkland beyond. The lavender provides strong bands of deep colour and wonderful scent throughout the summer.
To the east of the garden is the outside swimming pool which forms the key feature of this outdoor ‘room’ area. More sawn stone provides a simple, elegant surface and clipped evergreen hedges provide the framework and backdrop for the planting within. This space is designed for optimum relaxation and sun loungers and smart outdoor sofas create a feeling of easy outdoor living. A striking feature of this area is the Dark Planet sculpture by David Harber which is lit internally and provides an arresting feature day and night.
The formality and symmetry in the layout mirrors the classic and elegant lines of the house and in the overall design the style and tastes of our client have been harmoniously created in a scheme that totally reflects the owners of this striking Suffolk home.
